The deceased was the daughter of the late Cornelius Nash and was born near Providence Church, in Norfolk County, August 1853. (1803 on tombstone) The family was among the earliest settlers in this section and have always been held in high esteem. Since the death of her parents, Miss Nash has made her home with her brother-in-law, Mr. Reid, to whose children she assumed the mother's place on the death of her sister which occurred many years ago. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a consistent and devoted Christian. The funeral will be announced hereafter. ************************************************************************ The funeral of Miss Harriet Nash took place from the residence of her brother-in-law, Charles Reid, Esq., No. 284 East Main Street, at 12 o'clock yesterday and was numerously attended. Owing to sickness in the family the service was of a brief character, Rev. J.I. Vance, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. The remains were interred in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The following gentlemen, grand-nephews of the deceased, were the pallbearers: Alfred Gray, Charles R. Nash, Edgar Nash, Goodrich Hatton, Fergus Reid, A.H. Grandy, R. Lane Kelly, Robert DeJarnette. Portsmouth news section The funeral of Miss Harriet Nash, sister of the late John Nash, Esq., of this city, took place in Norfolk yesterday morning and was attended by many Portsmouth people.
