Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, March 22, 2000 
William Neal, 83, of the 2700 block of Sunrise Ave., departed this life on March
17, 2000, in Chesapeake.

Originally from Georgetown, Ky., he spent the majority of his life in
Chesapeake. He was the son of the late Nellie and Robert Bradshaw. He was
retired from both the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines after 20 years of
service in both.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Neal; four sons, William Neal Jr. of Omaha,
Neb., Rodney Neal of Portsmouth, James Johnson of Mississippi and Willie Jones
of Bay City, Texas; six daughters, Mary Young of Kentucky, Velma McDonald,
Patricia Black and Barbara Jones of Chesapeake, Teresa Jones of Maryland and
Vernice Lynn of Norfolk; 21 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Graves Funeral Chapel by the
Rev. Sylvester Pleasant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
