She was the daughter of the late John Neely, who was a prominent Norfolk attorney until his death some 40 years ago, and Mrs. Mary Rayfield Neely. A native of Accomack, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, she moved to Norfolk at the age of 15. She later took an active part in the social life of the city and in association with the late Miss Evelyn Henry Southall, conducted St. George's school, where many of today's prominent Norfolkians received their first schooling. Miss Neely was one of the outstanding vocalists of the city for many years and in addition to choir work she took an active interest in promoting concerts and a better appreciation of music locally. She took a leading part in the old Norfolk Music Club, of which she was an officer. For several years she was connected with St. Timothy's, a well known finishing school for girls at Catonsville, Md., but in recent years had returned to Norfolk and was making her home at 610 Pembroke Avenue at the time of her death. She is survived by one niece, Miss Mary Neely Warrington, of San Francisco, and a number of cousins. The body will remain at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments until tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock when it will be taken to Old St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Moultrie Guerry, rector. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
