He had been ill for three weeks. A native of Nansemond County, he had lived in Norfolk since 1912. He was a son of Joseph M. and Mrs. Jane Lufsey Nelms. Since 1918, he had been employed as a salesman by the Richmond Paper Company. He had been an active member of the Freemason Street Baptist Church for many years, having lately served as a deacon. For 13 years he had been chairman of the general committee of the business management of the church. An active member of Post B., TPA, of Norfolk, he had served as president and a director. He also was a member of the TPA's Board, State Division, and a past president of the State Division. He was a member of Ruth Lodge No. 89, A. F. and A. M.; Khedive Temple of the Shrine, and Auld Consistory, Scottish Rite Masons. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hazel Currier Nelms; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth J. Warren, of Cleveland, Ohio; one son, Lt. Charles W. Nelms, Jr., USN, of Patuxent River, Md.; one grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Claude Luke, of Newport News, and Mrs. Frank Angles, of Baltimore, Md., and one brother, Hurley Nelms, of Nansemond County. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a. m. at the Cox Funeral Home by the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, pastor emeritus of Freemason Street Baptist Church. -------------- Funerals Charles Wilson Nelms - Funeral services for Mr. Nelms, who died at his residence, 917 Jamestown Crescent, Monday night, will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home today at 11 a. m. by the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., pastor emeritus of Freemason Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
