Lexington street died at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital on Feb. 1 after a two-month’s illness. A native of Havana, Cuba, he had been in Norfolk more than 25 years. He retired from the U. S. Navy in 1947 after 38 years service. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church and the Men’s Bible Class. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Nelson; step-son S/Sgt. Joseph W. Armond, USO, FT. Meade MD., and three daughters, Mrs. Calton McIntosh, Mrs. Hermaener Douglas and Mrs. Evanti Mayo, all of Norfolk. Funeral services were at First Calvary Baptist Church on Feb. 7 with the Rev. C. E. Griffin officiating. Graveside military rites were held at Calvary Cemetery, with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
