Mary E. Nelson, 86, of the 9400 block of 1st View St., died July 24, 1996, in 
Norfolk.

Born in Norfolk, she was a resident of Ocean View for 70 years. She was a retired 
head clerk for Penn Central Railroad after 35 years of service. She was a member 
of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She attended Sacred Heart School and Maury High 
School.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Nelson-Lebby of Norfolk; three 
grandchildren, Scott Edward Hudson of Richmond, Mark Thomas Hudson of Norfolk, 
Jonathan Dwayne Lebby of Chesapeake; two great-grandchildren, Paul Edward Hudson 
and Ryan Ridgley Hudson, both of Richmond. She was predeceased by her former 
husband, Thomas Ridgley Nelson.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. 
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive 
friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 7 to 
8:30 p.m. and at the church Friday from 6 to 6:45 prior to the Mass. The family 
will assemble at the church Saturday at 11 a.m. for prayers and procession to the 
cemetery. The family will be at the residence, 9475 1st View St., after the 
service on Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to Norfolk ASPCA, Ballentine 
Blvd., Norfolk.
