Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, September 4, 1997 
Mittie Mae H. Nelson of the 6300 block of Chesapeake Blvd. departed this
lifeafter a long illness Aug. 30, 1997. She died in a local hospital.

Mrs. Nelson was retired from private duty nursing.

Survivors include her loving mother, Mary L. Hosea of Alabama; a daughter,
Shirley Spencer, and her husband, John; a granddaughter, Pamela Nelson;
grandsons, Reginald Jermaine, Joshua and John Spencer III; three
great-grandchildren, Ashley and Sydney Nelson and Shane Nelson McDavid; three
sisters and two brothers. She leaves numerous family members and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Cemetery by
the Rev. Paul Griffin. The family will accept visitors at 1626 Belafonte Drive,
Portsmouth. A wake service will be held Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Graves
Funeral Home.
