Norfolk - Mrs. Elzena R. Newby, 74, of 2327 Cottage Ave., the wife of John 
H. Newby Sr. and a native of Florence SC, died Tuesday in her home.

She was a member of First Church of Christ Holiness and its choir and 
Helping Hand Club.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Sharp of Norfolk and 
Mrs. Annie Ruth Gurley of Brooklyn; five sons, Henry L. Moore and Leander 
Newby of Norfolk, Melvin L. Moore of Dayton OH, Maj. John H. Newby Jr of 
Columbia MD., and George H. Newby of San Diego CA; a sister, Mrs. Vivian 
Smith of Chesapeake; three brothers, Leroy Robinson of Chesapeake, David 
Robinson of Hampton, and James Robinson of New York; 27 grandchildren, and 
14 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in First Church of Christ Holiness 
by Bishop Eugene Brown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Jones 
Funeral Home in charge.
