Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, September 4, 1994 
Catherine Newby of the 200 block of Tidewater Drive, a homemaker, died Sept. 3,
1994.

Mrs. Newby was born in Norfolk and was a member of Freedom Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Newby; a daughter, Earline Roseboro; a
son, Thomas Newby III; an aunt, Ardelia Gill; two grandchildren, Alethia
Roseboro and Deatrice Newby; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Eureka Small and
Burnetta Small.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Freedom Church of God In
Christ, 2699 Argonne Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Francis Askew. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery . Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will
assemble at the residence.
