Norfolk Journal and Guide,Jun 24,1939
James H. Newby, 1127 Goff St., died Sunday, June 11. Funeral services were held at 
St. John AME Zion Church, June 14, with the pastor, the Rev. H. M. Shields, 
officiating. Mr. Newby is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Newby, and other 
relatives and friends. Easy Pay Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. 
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
