Norfolk - A funeral service for Mrs. Elizabeth Newby of 1747 Campostella road, 
was conducted Sunday in First Baptist Church, Bute street. The R. P. Simms 
officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Home in charge.

A native of Suffolk, Mrs. Newby died Jan. 16 in her home. She was the widow of 
John R. Newby and a daughter of Robert and Mrs. Viola Brown Wiggins. She was a 
member of First Baptist Church, Bute street.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Eva Darden, Mrs. Mary Fields, Mrs. Novella 
Jones, Mrs. Mabel Stewart, Mrs. Alice Fitchett and Mrs. Elma D. Calhoun and a 
brother, Joseph Brown, all of Norfolk.
