Final rites were held at the Jones Funeral Chapel on Wednesday for Clifton 
Newby, 71, who died on Sept. 20 at his home at 808 Park avenue. The Rev. W. O. 
DeLoatch officiated.

Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

A native of Suffolk, Mr. Newby had lived in Norfolk 40 years. He was employed at 
Bryant’s poolroom for about six years.

He is survived by a sister, Miss Virgie Newby of Newport News; two brothers, 
Junius Newby of Newport News and Hosea Newby of Baltimore.
