Virginian Pilot June 16, 1900

                             DEATH OF MR. NEWBY

Mr. W.P. Newby, a well known resident of Eleventh Street, died yesterday afternoon 
at 3:45 o'clock after about twelve days sickness from pneumonia. He was 48 years 
old and leaves four children, two sons and two daughters. The funeral services 
will be conducted at the residence this afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. Josiah 
Elliott, of Hertford, N.C., who is leading a series of revival meetings at the 
South Norfolk Baptist Church. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
