Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark April 17, 1927

Mrs. Mary V. Newman, aged 81, widow of Charles H. Newman, died yesterday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Annie Rhodes, 404 
Cummer Lane, after a comparatively brief illness. Mrs. Newman fell and broke one 
of her hips three months ago. She was a daughter of the late Robert and Mrs. 
Mary Birch, natives and life residents of Virginia, and is survived by two 
daughters, Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs. Emma E. Holland, both of Berkley, and numerous 
grandchildren. 
The funeral services will be conducted at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 3 
o'clock.

NEWMAN -  At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Annie Rhodes, 404 Cummer 
Street, Saturday afternoon, April 16, 1927, at 2 o'clock, Mrs. MARY V. NEWMAN, 
widow of Charles H. Newman and daughter of the late Robert and Mrs. Mary Birch, 
aged 81 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of her daughter, TUESDAY 
AFTERNOON, April 19, at 3 o'clock. Friends are invited. Burial will be in the 
family lot n Magnolia Cemetery.
