Norfolk Virginian Pilot Wednesday August 2, 1967


Norfolk-Mrs. Ostella M. Newsom, 87, the widow of John Franklin Newsom, 
former official in charge of the Cape Henry Weather Bureau, died Sunday in 
Baltimore.
Her husband, who had been in charge of the weather station since 1910, died 
in 1933. She had lived in Baltimore since 1934.
Surviving are a son, John Franklin Newsom, Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Howard 
C. Johnson, both of Baltimore.
The body is being sent from Tickner Funeral Home, Baltimore, for a funeral 
service today at 11:30 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery.
