Chesapeake - Catherine "Kitty" Hipple Newsome, 86, passed away September 13, 2012, 
with her loving daughter by her side. Kitty was born in Norfolk and was the 
daughter of the late Margaret Burlas and Thomas Hipple. She was predeceased by her 
husband of 63 years, John W. Newsome Sr. and their daughters, Mary Ann Newsome and 
Kathy Newsome Rhodes. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Newsome 
Sinkking; her son, John W. Newsome Jr. and Anita Hobson; one sister, Margaret 
Sample; one brother, Thomas Hipple; her nephew, Bill Sample; five grandchildren, 
Kelly Rhodes Gunning, Shawn Newsome, John Sinkking and Paul and Laura Sinkking; 
four great-grandchildren, Holly, Sydney and James Gunning and Taylor Sinkking, as 
well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Kitty was a loyal, lifetime member of 
the Catholic Church and attended services at every opportunity. She loved taking 
bus trips to Dover with her lifelong friends, playing cards, and bingo. Being with 
her family gave her great pleasure. Her generosity and love made her greatly 
appreciated, and she will be missed by all. The mass will be held at Christ the 
King Catholic Church, 1803 Columbia Avenue, Norfolk, Virginia, Monday, September 
17, 2012 at 11 a.m. Monsignor William Pitt will officiate. Burial will follow at 
Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be 
made to Christ the King Catholic Church. Condolences may be offered to the family
