Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, January 21, 1996 
William Edward ``Bones'' Newsome Sr., of 961 Merrimac Ave., died Jan. 18, 1996
in Sentara Norfolk General.

Mr. Newsome was born in Camden County, N.C., and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Newsome of Norfolk; a daughter, Hazel Virginia
Newsome of Norfolk; three sons, James Harrell, William Newsome Jr. and Irving
Newsome, all of Norfolk; three sisters, Bessie Johns of Virginia Beach, Delores
Holmes of Chesapeake and Doris Alston of Tallahassee, Fla.; 13 grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday in Garretts Community Missionary Baptist
Church with the Rev. Johnnie Reid officiating. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery . The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Monday. The remains
will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at 974 Armfield
Circle, Apt. 202, at 11 a.m. for the processional. Carlos A. Howard Funeral
Home, Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements.
