New Journal and Guide (1916-2003) Feb 12,1972
New York - William J. Newsome Sr. of 634 St. Nicholas avenue, a native of
Norfolk, died in his home.
  He was the son of the late William Newsome and husband of the late Mrs. Mattie
Newsome.  He was retired from Roma Barber Shop, Norfolk; and was a deacon of
Bank Street Baptist Church.
  Surviving are two sons, Earl Newsome of Norfolk, and William J Newsome Jr., of
New York; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
  Services were held in Bank Street Baptist Church by the Rev. James Griffin
with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
