Newstead, aged 80, son of the late William and Mrs. Pamela Parrott Newstead, died yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o’clock at the residence, 2821 Victoria avenue. Mr. Newstead, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, was a cotton weigher for a number of years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. George Hogan, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Stephen Hogan, of Augusta, Ga., and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for services Friday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Thursday night at 8 o’clock.
