Thomas Newton, or this Borough. He had not long since completed his mathematical education at West Point, and soon afterwards became an Assistant Engineer on the Wilmington Road. It was in the prosecution of his duties on this last named improvement that he contracted, during the past summer, the disease of which he died. He returned in September to his parents, and all that skill and kindness could do, was done, but in vain. Never was there a more patient sufferer, and to see such a youth, blessed with talents of a high order, and eminently fitted for great usefulness in the world, moving with the mark of death upon his brow, would have touched the sternest heart. His death will bear with severe pressure on his venerable father, who well appreciated the merits of his son, and his mother who might fairly have anticipated many years of life and honor to her beloved offspring. The friends and acquaintances of the family are invited to attend the funeral from the residence of Col. Thomas Newton, on Catherine Street, tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1 o'clock, P.M.
