"Woody" Newton, 74, of the 8500 block of Culfor Crescent, a retired postal supervisor, died March 21, 1993. Mr. Newton was a native of Norfolk and had retired from the Postal Service after 20 years. He was a member and a deacon of Park Place United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Park Place Methodist Men. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Janet C. Newton; a son, Edward W. Newton of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Amanda Tracy of Sydney, Ohio, Anthony Kelly of Virginia Beach, Floyd Potter of Chesapeake, David Newton and Candice Newton, both of Norfolk; and one great-grandchild, Sarah Tracy of Sydney, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Rosmarie Newton of Chesapeake. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. George B. Neas. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
