Norfolk Virginian February 6, 1895

                               GONE TO HEAVEN   

Died yesterday afternoon, after a short but painful illness, Lillie May, the 
beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Nichols, in the 14th year of her age. 
Thus, in the bright spring time of life did the relentless scythe of death cut 
down this lovely flower ere its delicate petals had fairly unfolded in a more 
beautiful bloom. Death at any time, and under all conditions is an unwelcome 
visitor, but when he takes in his cold embrace the idol of the household, it is 
doubly so, and loving hearts are filled with pain.
The circumstances attending the death of this young miss were of the most 
distressing and painful character, and it is for this reason that the blow falls 
all the heavier  She had been sick but two days when the messenger dame and she 
stepped from earth to heaven.
Her funeral will take place from the parents' residence, No. 134 Windsor Avenue, 
tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at 3 o'clock. Friends of the family are requested 
to attend.

NICHOLS – In this city, at residence of parents, No. 134 Windsor avenue, 
Tuesday, February 5th, 1895, at 3 o’clock p.m., LILLIE MAY, daughter of R. D. 
and Hannah Nichols, in the 14th year of her age.
The funeral will take place from St. Mary’s Catholic Church THURSDAY AFTERNOON 
at 3 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend.
