Nichols, Sr. of 535 W. 26th St. died Wednesday in a local hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was the husband of Mrs. Evelyn P. Nichols, and was the son of the late Mr. Jeffrey N. Nichols and Mrs. Maggie B. Nichols. Mr. Nichols was employed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Va. for 26 years. He also was a Spartan Booster, Norfolk State College. Surviving, besides his wife and mother, a son, Mrs. James N. Nichols Jr. of Norfolk, Va. Three daughters, Miss Evelyn Rose, Miss Catherine Demise and Miss Maria Nichols, all of Norfolk, Va. Two brothers, Mr. Bernard A. Nichols, of Norfolk Va. and Mrs. Robert Elmo Nichols, of Chesapeake, Va. One sister, Mrs. Bernadine Williams, of Norfolk, Va. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 16, 1974 in Hale Funeral Chapel, with Rev. H.C. Felton, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
