Virginian Pilot August 15, 1999

Gladys Alexander Nicholson, 100, died Aug. 13, 1999, in a local nursing center.
She was born in Portsmouth and was the daughter of the late Martha Dunford and 
H. Linwood Alexander. She was the widow of Clyde Parker Nicholson.
Mrs. Nicholson participated actively in community and cultural activities in 
Virginia Beach. She served as secretary of the Virginia Beach Union of King's 
Daughters, a member of the General Hospital Auxiliary at Virginia Beach, the 
Chrysler Museum, the Virginia Museum of Arts at Richmond, and a former member of 
the Foreign Service Wives Auxiliary in Paris.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery. Cox 
Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
