She was the widow of William Francis Nimmo Sr., a Virginia Power Company executive, who died in 1964. Born in Terre Haute, Ind., Oct. 16, 1903, she moved to Norfolk with her father and mother, George L. Evans and Maude Amanda Evans, in 1919. She was the oldest child in a family of six children. Four sisters, Helen Lester, Alice Simmons, Martha Cobb, and Mary Louise Howell, and a brother, John Evans, predeceased her. Mrs. Nimmo was a charter member of Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she served as the church secretary from 1951 to 1962. She was president of Mary Stamps Bible Class and served on the Executive Board of the Women's Auxiliary of the Presbytery of Norfolk. She was a member of the Talbot Park Garden Club for 40 years, serving as president from 1954-1955. In 1982 she moved to Westminster-Canterbury in its first year of operation and lived there until her death. Survivors include a son, William F. Nimmo Jr., and his wife, Fontaine, of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church, 6900 Newport Ave., Norfolk, VA 23509. H.D.
