Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Nolan, 61, wife of Dr. Francis F. Nolan and daughter of 
the late John and Mrs. Mary Catherine Waters Cannon, died yesterday at 12:20 
a.m. at Richmond.
Mrs. Nolan was a native of New Bern, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk 
for 40 years, residing at 631 Boissevain Avenue at the time of her death.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of the Ladies Auxiliary of the 
Norfolk County Medical Society, the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club, and alumna 
of St. Vincent De Paul Hospital.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Chester A. 
Houghtaling, and four grandchildren, of Richmond; three sisters, Miss Theresa 
Cannon of Norfolk, Mrs. A. R. Dixon, of New Bern, N.C., and Mrs. E. F. Hill, of 
Suffolk, and one brother, Samuel M. Cannon, of New Bern, N.C.
The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church for funeral services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. 
Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted at the funeral apartments 
tonight at 7:30.
