NORFOLK — Dr. Francis Fabian Nolan, retired Norfolk physician of 938 W. Princess 
Anne Road, died Saturday in Richmond.
A native of Portsmouth, he was a son of Patrick Michael and Mrs. Mary Mulcurran 
Nolan and the husband of the late Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Cannon Nolan.
He lived in the Norfolk area most of his life.
He graduated from the University of Maryland Medical School in 1917, then 
entered the Naval Reserve as a junior grade lieutenant in the Medical Corps.
He practiced medicine in Norfolk many years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Seaboard Medical Society, 
Norfolk County Medical Society, Medical Society of Virginia, American Medical 
Society, and Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Nolan Houghtaling of Richmond, 
and two brothers, Robert Paul Nolan and James P. Nolan of Portsmouth.
The body was taken to H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.

NORFOLK — A funeral service for Dr. Francis F. Nolan, who died Saturday in 
Richmond, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Rosary will be held in H. D. Oliver 
Funeral Apartments tonight at 7:30. Besides other relatives, he is survived by 
four grandchildren.
