NORFOLK - John E. Norman Sr., 85, husband of Mrs. Maggie Patrick Norman and son 
of the late William Henry and Mrs. Annie Basnight Norman, died Monday at 9:50 
a.m. in a Norfolk hospital.
He was a native of Creswell, N.C., and lived in Norfolk 42 years, residing at 
603 Wyley Dr. at the time of his death. He was a member of the First Christian 
Church (Disciples).
Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Elma Crutchfield of 
Norfolk, Mrs. Stella Little of Winterville, N.C., Mrs. Nellie Miller of Norfolk, 
Mrs. Christine Fitzpatrick of Norfolk and Mrs. Evelyn Columbus of Dearborn, 
Mich.; three sons, Herman A. Norman, Harold E. Norman and John E. Norman Jr., 
all of Norfolk; 31 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The body will be taken from H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to First Christian 
Church (Disciples) for a funeral service Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. J. 
Stuart Wake, pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The body will be in 
the church an hour before the service.
