Norton of 807 Mayfield Ave. died in a Norfolk nursing home Sunday at 2 a.m. after several years illness. A native of Redrock, Pa., he had lived in this area 69 years. He was a retired conductor with Norfolk & Southern Railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Trainmen No. 550 and Atlantic Lodge No. 2, A.F.& A.M. He was the son of the late Joseph Herbert and Mary Boothe Norton and husband of the late Mrs. Lena Davis Norton. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Norton Matthews of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche N. Lindsey of South Norfolk and Mrs. Florence N. Kratzig of Norfolk; a half-brother, J. Herbert Norton of Great Bridge; a granddaughter, Mrs. James Baker of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Essie Quenstedt of Elizabeth City, N.C., and a great-granddaughter. A funeral service will be held in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
