Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Norwood, an active member of Bethlehem Baptist 
Church, were held from the church Nov. 15 with the pastor, the Rev. J. Q. A. 
Lassiter, officiating.

Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Hoe in charge of 
arrangements.

Mrs. Norwood, 62, of 1356 Marshall avenue, died Nov. 10 in a Norfolk hospital 
after a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mrs. Matilda Newby.  A native of 
Nansemond county, she had lived in Norfolk 70 years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Baltimore Union and the 
Evening Star.  She had been a member for more than 60 years of the Bethlehem 
church, where she was active in the choir, on the usher board and taught Sunday 
school.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Norwood;  three sisters, Mrs. Ardella Ingram, 
Mrs. Virginia Cartwright and Mrs. Sarah Patterson, all of Norfolk and one 
brother Albert Newby of Washington.
