The Virginian-Pilot, Wednesday, August 30, 1961

NORFOLK - Charles Norwood, 83, of 1356 Marshall Ave. died Monday in his home 
after long illness.

He was a son of Preston and Mrs. Christian Norwood and the widower of Mrs. 
Gracie Norwood.

A native of Durham County, N.C., he lived in Norfolk more than 60 years. He 
formerly worked for Abbott Proctor & Raine, brokers, 50 years.

Surviving are three brothers, Frank Norwood of Oxford, N.C., Samuel Norwood of 
Wilson, N.C., and Hubert Norwood of Norfolk.

The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held in 
Bethlehem Baptist Church, of which he was a member, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. by the 
Rev. J.Q.A. Lassiter, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
