Nowinski, 79, of the 1800 block of E. Little Creek Road, passed away Aug. 28, 2007, in Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. A native of Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Clara and Edward J. Nowinski Sr. She retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant. She also retired from the Norfolk public school system. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth V. Nowinski of Michigan; nieces and nephews, Sandra A. Nowinski, Edward J. Nowinski III (Debbie), Vicki M. Lucas (Jerry), Gary Nowinski (Beth), Carolyn T. Burnett (Randy) and Patricia C. Zajac (Ralph); and great-nieces and -nephews, Rebekah L. Nowinski, Matthew R. Nowinski (Aimee), Skylar Nowinski, Rachel Zajac, Jeffrey Zajac, Carrie Burnett, Alissa Nowinski, Kyra Nowinski and Kevin Lucas. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Edward L. Richardson officiating. The entombment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
