He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the son of the late Joseph John O'Brien and Rose Mullins O'Brien Lewis. He was the widower of Helen Walker O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien retired from the United States civil service at Naval Air Station, Norfolk, as an aircraft mechanic with 34 years service. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, Council 3548, The International Order of the Alhambra, Padul Caravan No. 69, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ocean View Democratic and Social Club. Survivors include his daughters, Rosemary O. Clark and Margaret Ann O. Baker and her husband Jerry; his son, Patrick J. O'Brien, all of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Scott, Greg and Beth; and his great-granddaughter, Sarah. The funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Pius X Catholic Church Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father David L. Nott officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake will be held in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D.
