VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Mrs. Vell Vera Freeman O’Brien, 63, of Virginia Beach, 
died Friday in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
She was a native of Louisburg, N.C.
The funeral mass will be conducted today in Star of the Sea Catholic Church in 
Virgina Beach. Burial will be Monday.
Mrs. O’Brien is survived by her husband, retired Lt. Col. William J. O’Brien; 
one son, Sgt. James O’Brien of Ft. Ritchie, Md.; one daughter, Miss Catherine 
O’Brien of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Anne F. Shelton and Miss Mary 
Harris Freeman, both of Louisburg, and Mrs. Margaret Matthews of Rock Hill, 
S.C.; one brother, Wyatt M. Freeman of Louisburg; and one granddaughter.
