Born in Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Faye and Evelyn Withrow. Betty was a member of the Women's Auxillary of the Veteran's Association and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, John J. Ogert of Elizabeth City; two sons, John M. Ogert, Sr., Jerrold A. Ogert and wife Amber; one daughter, Jo Ann E. Meggison; one brother, Roger Withrow; as well as six grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. A mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1453 N. Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC. Father Jim Buchholz will officiate. The interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 3000 Church Street, Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
