He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. He was a sales representative for the Grant Electric Co. and the Lester D. Lawson Co. He was the president of Odom, Stubbs and Ogletree Inc., manufacturers' representative to the military until the company was sold in 1978. He continued to work as a self-employed manufacturers representative until 1995. He had been a member of the American Legion and the Lake Wright Golf Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida. Survivors include children, Kay Grabner of Eagan, Minn., John C. Ogletree Jr. of Virginia Beach, Rick Ogletree and Lee Ogletree, both of Norfolk; six grandchildren from Eagan, Dara, Erin and Leslie, Todd, Marlo, and Meredith; and three grandchildren from Norfolk, Beverly Wilson, John C. Ogletree III and Lance Ogletree; and two great-grandchildren also of Norfolk, Shelby and Lance; one niece, Diane Hammond of Virginia Beach; nephew, Mark Fisher of Virginia Beach. A funeral will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Thursday at 2 p.m. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Thursday. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
