Virginia lit up any room she entered, with her energy, her enthusiasm and her zest for life. Her laugh was infectious and as boundless as her curly red hair. She loved her family and friends dearly and doted on her dogs. She is survived by her mother, Marilou O'Hara, and her brother, Joseph O'Hara, who were her anchors and her joy. Her father, Coach John O'Hara, passed away in 2008, and she missed him all of her remaining days. She leaves behind many O'Hara, Callahan, Respess, Lanahan and McDowell relatives, many dear friends, and her dogs, Percy and James Brown. Virginia was born December 9, 1981. She was a 2000 graduate of Maury High School, where she swam on the swim team, which she captained in her senior year. She attended VCU, where she studied art history, and she received an A.A. Degree in Business from Tidewater Community College. She worked in several local restaurants, most recently as the General Manager at Blanca. She lived in Austin, Texas for five years and Richmond, Virginia for seven years before returning to Norfolk. Virginia was happiest when she was with her family and friends, hanging out with her dogs, cooking a gourmet meal, or working in her garden. She also fought for any cause where she thought someone had been treated unfairly. Most recently she was helping a fund drive for BIGNFK, Basic Income Guaranteed, Norfolk. A Celebration of her life will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday January 7, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services starting at 11:00a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at the O'Hara home. Donations in her memory can be made to BIGNFK, the SPCA, or a charity of your choice. Virginia's life was far too short, but she lit up the world around her like a comet. We will miss her dearly.
