The Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 30, 1943


Mrs. Alice Northern Old, 88, died at the residence, 3115 Tait Terrace, 
yesterday morning at 11:30 o’clock after a linger illness. She was a native of 
Moyock, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk for fifty years. She was the 
widow of William Hollowell Old and a daughter of the late Phillip and Mary Jane 
Sanderson Northern.
Mrs. Old was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Surviving her are a 
son, Livius Lankford Old, of Great Bridge; a daughter, Mrs. Lula Old Walker, of 
Norfolk; a brother Patrick Northern, of Norfolk County; two half-sisters, Mrs. 
Irene Willey of Deep Creek, and Mrs. Annie Pritchard, of Baltimore; five 
grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home, tomorrow morning at 
11 o’clock. The Rev. Mott A. Crumby, pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 
will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
