D. OLIVER GATHERING OF FRIENDS AT FUNERAL OVERFLOW SACRED HEART CHURCH Final respects to H. D. Oliver, who died Thursday after serving as a funeral director here for three-score years, were paid yesterday morning at funeral services conducted before an overflow congregation at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In the funeral sermon, the Rev. Leo J. Ryan, D. D., of Richmond, formerly pastor of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, spoke of the charity, generosity and kindness of Mr. Oliver, whom he described as a Christian gentleman in every sense of the word. The Rev. Edward P. Kilgalen, pastor of the church, who officiated, said the attendance at the services was the largest for any similar occasion in his recollection. The Rev. Robert J. Kealey, pastor of Holy Trinity Church, Ocean View, conducted the services at the graveside in St. Mary's Cemetery. Present in the sanctuary were the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. Kelliher, the Rev. M. G. Downing, C. S. S. R., the Rev. R. B. Kealey, the Rev. J. Turner, S. S. J., the Rev. J. O. Schmidhauser, the Rev. J. A. Brennan, the Rev. P. A. Vanganzewinkle, the Rev. P. P. Brennan, the Rev. J. Albert, S. S. J., the Rev A. Canas, the Rev. J. Igoe, the Rev. P. C. Blackburn, the Rev. M. J. Harrison, the Rev. Harold Nott, the Rev. Paul V. Heller, the Rev. T. P. Scannell, the Rev. P. A. Campbell, the REv. F. V. Bambrick and the Rev. T. Byrne. Catholic, Protestant and Jewish clerical and lay leaders alike attended the services which opened at 10 o'clock before an already-filled edifice with the crowd taking up all available standing room and extending out to the steps leading to the nave.
