The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Saturday January 29, 1938
Ernest L. Onley, aged 61, died last night at 7:30 o'clock at his residence 3032 
Peronne avenue, after a brief illness. He was a native of Gates County, North 
Carolina, and had made his home in this section 25 years. He was the son of the 
late Thomas and Susan Riddick Onley, and husband of the late Amedia Haskett 
Onley. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. R.E. Wilson of Berkley; Mrs. G.E. 
Thayer and Mrs. Joseph Martin, Jr., of Norfolk, and Mrs. W.E. Harper, of 
Norfolk County; one son, E.E. Onley, of South Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. R. 
Stallings, of Trottville, N.C., and Mrs. A.C. Stallings, of Sunbury, N.C., and 
13 grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, Jefferson and Jackson streets, 
South Norfolk, pending funeral arrangements. 





Additional Comments:
Originally interred at Riverside Memorial Park in Norfolk.  Moved to Rosewood 
Memorial Park in Virginia Beach in 1958.
