Norfolk - Funeral services for Herbert H. Otey, 63, of 1414 E. Princess Anne
road, were held Wednesday in Bethlehem Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Q. A.
Lassiter.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory Funeral Home in
charge.  He died May 2 in a hospital after a short illness.

A Lynchburg native, he was a son of the late Frank Otey and Mrs. Erma Otey and
husband of Mrs. Maria Otey.  He had been employed by the Broadway-Manhattan Taxi
Company for 22 years.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by three sons, Thomas H. Otey and James
N. Otey of Norfolk and Frank J. Otey of New York City;  three daughters, Mrs.
Mildred O. McGhee and Mrs. Virginia O. Hart of Norfolk and Mrs. Elizabeth Adams
of Washington;  three brothers, Elijah Otey of Philadelphia, Thomas Otey of
Virginia Beach and Frank Otey of Detroit, two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Hughes of
Philadelphia and Mrs. Winnie Nellum of Norfolk;  29 grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren.
