Mrs. Mary Jane Overton, age 80 died Sept. 7 at her residence, 107 E. Liberty 
St., South Norfolk, VA.  She was the widow of the late Nathan Overton and 
the daughter of Matthew Ash and Mrs. Lou Faulkner.

She was born in Halifax, NC, but had lived in Norfolk 57 years.  Surviving 
Mrs. Overton are, one daughter, the Rev. Rosa Z. Sawyer;  one granddaughter, 
Mrs. Christine Everett;  two grandsons, Richard and Eugene Robinson;  twelve 
great grand children;  and five great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wed., Sept. 11, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  The 
Rev. R. T. Adams, pastor conducted.  Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery with 
Fitchett’s Funeral Home in charge.
