Ayers, 2121 Maryland avenue, East Fairmount Park, yesterday morning at 1:35 o'clock after an illness of six weeks. He was a native of Camden County, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk 40 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Overton. Mr. Overton was a member of Norfolk Aerie 163, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Elizabeth Camp 5, Woodmen of the World. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charles C. Grant, Jr., and Mrs. J.W. Ayers, of Norfolk, and Mrs. R.E. McDonald, of New London, Conn.; one grandchild; one brother, Frank Overton, of Norfolk, and one sister, Mrs. E.L. Guynn, of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Bro. Westover avenue at Manteo street, this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. Guy W. Duty, pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
