Norfolk Journal and Guide, June 11,1960
Mrs. Cora Owens, active church woman and lodge member, died Saturday, June 4  
at her home, 1438 Proescher street,  after a short illness.  She was 77 
years of age.

A native of Windsor NC, she had lived in Norfolk 55 years.  She was a member 
of New Calvary Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board, 
missionary circle and was active in the Ladies League and Flower Club;  and 
her lodge affiliations included Courts of Calanthians, Eastern Star, and 
United Order of Tents.

She is survived by one son, Norman Smallwood of Norfolk.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at Second Calvary by the Rev. S. A. 
Wilson.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.  Morning Glory Funeral Home handled 
arrangements.
