NORFOLK - Barbara Robinson Owens, 70, of the 800 block of Tifton St., died Nov. 
11, 2005, after a long illness at her residence. Mrs. Owens, a native of 
Norfolk, was the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Robinson. 

She was a 1954 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and received her 
B.S. degree in social work from Norfolk State University and also her M.S. 
degree in special education. She was retired from the Chesapeake Public School 
System. Her earlier employment was in the Early Childhood Education Program for 
Handicapped Children at Norfolk State University. She was member of Christ the 
King Catholic Church. 

Survivors include her son, Maurice Jerome Robinson; nieces, Willie Mae Robinson, 
Shelvy Robinson and Lynette Robinson Rhodes (Clifford Sr.); nephew, James C. 
Robinson Jr. (Marion); great nieces, Michele, Janelle and Sophia Robinson; great 
nephews, Clifford Jr. and Joshua Rhodes; sisters-in-law, Willie Katie Robinson 
and June M. Robinson; caregiver, Melvette Noel; and special friends, Willie Mae 
Powell, Genoa McPhatter and Kim Macklin. 

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Graves Funeral Home Chapel, 
1631 Church St., Norfolk, with Dr. John Clark officiating. Interment will be in 
Calvary Cemetery .
