Pegram Paige, 88, of the 800 block of Lexington St., entered eternal rest quietly Dec. 30, 2006. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of John and Hattie Fuller Pegram. She was the widow of Kenswil C. Paige Sr. Mrs. Paige retired as a day care provider of the Norfolk Navy Relief Society and was also a retiree of the STOP Organization, where she was a day care provider at the Paige Day Care Center. She was also employed for many years by the Southern Bank of Norfolk. She particularly enjoyed catering for various social events in the Tidewater area. Mrs. Paige was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church during her youth and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1936. She had been an active member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception since the merger of the two parishes. She was specifically known for her home- based celebrations of Norfolk State's homecomings, as she served hundreds of revelers each day after the game some of the finest southern cuisine. She leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Harriet Paige Brown (Allen) and Karen Paige Womack; six sons, Kenswil C. Paige Jr., Vincent W. Paige (Marilyn), Edward R. Paige (Shirley), Marshall L. Paige, Ronald S. Paige and Wendell Christopher Paige. She leaves one loving sister, Emily V. Ponton. There are 27 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren to continue her legacy. She will also be sorely missed by two daughters-in-law, Brenda C. Paige and Jean Paige Huntley. She will be happily remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday at noon in the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 232 Chapel St., with the Rev. Father Ernest Bulinda officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 5:30 p.m. A Christian Wake will be held at the church Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. Riddick Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
