PALMER DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Noah Hughes Palmer, founder of the Norfolk Cigar and Tobacco Company, died at 10:25 o'clock Friday night following an illness of several years which became dangerous after a recent automobile accident in which he was injured. Mr. Palmer died at his residence, 1227 Maple avenue, Berkley. He had been a resident of this section for forty years and was popular in the business life of the city. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie Palmer, four daughters, Mrs. Paul B. Ives, Mrs. A.W. Calcott, and Miss Virginia Palmer, of Norfolk; and Mrs. M.C. Norman, of Portsmouth; and two sons, E.H. and N.H. Palmer, of Norfolk. He is survived also by a sister, Mrs. J. McPherson, of Portsmouth; two brothers, H.C. and Thomas Palmer, of Norfolk; and three grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Palmer will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at the residence Rev. L.R. Hobday, assisted by Rev. B.L. Rhodes, pastor of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
