Plummer Pannill, of this city, died last night at 9 o’clock at Brooksville, Fla., after a long illness. He was 72 years old. Surviving him is his wife, Mrs. Margaret Soutter Pannill; two daughters, Mrs. Edmund R. Cardoza and Mrs. William Herbert Nash, of Norfolk; two great grandchildren; two brothers, A. Plummer Pannill, of Norfolk, and Charles J. Pannill, of New York; two sisters, Mrs. Otey Pollard and Mrs. James H. Johnston, of Norfolk, and several nieces and nephews. The body will be brought to Norfolk for funeral services and burial. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Senator Pannill had made his home in Florida for the past 22 years. He had been a resident of Hernando County, where his home, Annuttalaga Hammock, was a show place for 16 years. In private life he was a road contractor and citrus grower. Senator Pannill was a native of Petersburg, a son of Thomas and Mrs. Virginia Knox Pannill. He lived in Norfolk for some years, moving from here to Florida. He was appointed by Governor Dave Sholtz to fill the State Senate vacancy caused by the death of Hugh Kale.
