Mrs. Parham, of 1009 Albert avenue, was a native of Sussex county, daughter of the late William and Mrs. Anna Ridley. A graduate of Virginia Normal and Industrial institute, she taught school in Sussex and Southampton county prior to teaching in the Norfolk public schools, where she was employed thirty years. An active member of St. John AME Church, she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and was a member of the Delta Alpha Sunday school class. She also held membership in the Lindenwood Garden Club and the Lamberts Point Garden Club. Surviving are her husband, Guy Parham; three daughters, Mrs. Anna C. Green, Mrs. Jamie C. Lamb and Mrs. Margaret Perkins, all of Norfolk; one son, Vattel Chamblis of Philadelphia; one brother, Norfleet Lowe of Cincinnati; and three grandchildren. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, under direction of B. F. King Funeral Home. Out - of - town relatives and friends attending the funeral rites were her brother, Norfleet Lowe; son, Vattel Chamblis; nephew Juber Lowe of Waverly, VA; Callie Wood of Philadelphia; Nathaniel Ellis of Dendron, and Mattie and Heran Parker of Carson, VA.
