Norfolk Ledger Dispatch July 18, 1918

Mrs. Jane E. Parker died last evening at 10:50 o'clock at the residence of her 
son, Thomas Asball, 52 Liberty Street, South Norfolk, after a brief illness. She 
was 58 years of age and was born in Norfolk County, was the widow of the late 
John T. Parker and daughter of the late Henry and Almeda Gilbert. She leaves two 
children, Thomas Asball and Mrs. Leslie Brockett, of Goldsboro, N.C.; one 
brother, Leary Gilbert, of Cornland, Norfolk County. The funeral will take place 
from the above residence tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 5 o'clock and will be 
conducted by the Rev. Charles Straughn, pastor of the Twelfth Street Mission. 
The interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Jane E. Parker, aged 58 years, widow of John T. Parker, who 
died Wednesday evening at 10:50 o'clock, at the residence of her son, Thomas 
Asbell, 52 Liberty Street South Norfolk, will be conducted at the above 
residence this afternoon at 5 o'clock, by Rev. Charles Straughn, pastor of the 
Twelfth Street Mission and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.  
Mrs. Parker was a native of Norfolk County and a daughter of the late Henry and 
Almeda Gilbert  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Asbell, this city 
and Mrs. Leslie Brockett, of Goldsboro, N.C. and one brother, Leary Gilbert of 
Cornland, Norfolk, County.
